Long-time OHL linesman, officiating manager Ken Cox inducted into North Bay Sports Hall of Fame
One of the longest-tenured on-ice officials in OHL history was honoured in North Bay this past weekend.
Ken Cox, who worked the lines in the Ontario Hockey League over a span of 25 years from 1980-2005, was inducted into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame. The 66-year-old amassed a total of 1,362 games including 1,073 regular season matchups and 266 playoff contests across both the OHL and the American Hockey League throughout his lengthy career. Cox worked a record of seven different Memorial Cup events, highlighted by his final tournament in 2005 that featured present day NHL star Sidney Crosby.
Today, Ken Cox, who worked as a firefighter throughout his full-time career, serves as an OHL officiating manager and coordinator for new officials. He had a hand in initiating the first OHL Development Prospect Camp for aspiring referees and line officials.
