Jake Cella commits to Steelheads
Mississauga, ON – The Mississauga Steelheads are pleased to announce the free-agent signing of Jake Cella. The Vaughan native has spent each of the last two seasons playing for the Newmarket Hurricanes of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL).
The 5-foot-7, 165-pound defenceman recorded 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) in 51 games this season. Head coach and general manager James Richmond thinks Jake is a great addition to the organization adding, “we are pleased to add Jake to the Steelheads organization after a very strong development camp last weekend. He’s a versatile right-handed shot defenceman who gives us great organizational depth at the position.”
Jake is the fourth offseason commitment received by the the Steelheads and the first free-agent signing. Already committed to the Steelheads are 2018 OHL Priority Selections James Hardie (first round), William Portokalis (second round) and Joe Ranger (fourth round).
