IceDogs name Gavin Bryant captain
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have announced that Gavin Bryant has been named the 17th captain in club history.
Head coach Ben Boudreau on naming Gavin Bryant captain: “Gavin is a natural born leader. We are going to count on him to lead us going forward. He is a great example of how to play and prepare both on and off the ice.”
Bryant was acquired by the IceDogs in the summer from the Owen Sound Attack where he served as an alternate captain during the 2022-23 season. Despite being new to the IceDogs team and organization, Bryant was named an alternate captain at the start of this season and has served in that role ever since. The 2004-born forward from Ingersoll, Ont. has played 133 career OHL games across the regular season and playoffs, while recording a total 91 points. In 32 games this season, Bryant has nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points.
“It was an honour to just wear a letter this year for the IceDogs, now wearing the C is just a privilege also. It’s a classy organization and I’ve been treated with nothing but respect so far in my tenure,” noted Bryant.
Bryant scored in his debut as IceDogs captain on Thursday as the club won for the third time in the last four games. Niagara is back in action on Thursday at home to the Flint Firebirds.
