IceDogs add former OHL Cup champion Marc Slawson as Assistant Coach
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have announced changes to their Hockey Operations department.
Damon Racicot has been promoted to Senior Advisor, Dan Mckeen has been promoted to Director, Player Personnel while resuming his role as Video Coordinator and Marc Slawson has been hired as an Assistant Coach.
Damon Racicot was originally hired by the IceDogs in 2022 as an Assistant Coach and served in the role for two seasons. Before his time in Niagara, he spent several seasons in Brantford across the U16 AAA teams, the Brantford Bandits (GOJHL) and Brantford 99ers (OJHL). Racicot will be leaving the bench this season but will gain promotion as Senior Advisor in the Hockey Operations department.
Much like Racicot, Dan McKeen was hired in 2022 as the team’s Video Coordinator and has served in the role for the past two seasons. McKeen has extensive experience within the Video Coordinator role, having six years of experience at the time of his appointment in Niagara. He spent six seasons with Brock University as the Men’s hockey team (OUA) Video Coach, starting that role in 2016 and ending in 2022. During his final three years with Brock he also served as Director of Analytics with the Erie Otters (OHL).
Marc Slawson will join Head Coach, Ben Boudreau and Assistant Coach, Dan Paille on the bench this season. Slawson comes in after various seasons coaching the best OHL prospects in the province in the GTHL across the Don Mills Flyers and Toronto Titans AAA hockey clubs. Most notably, Slawson was the Head Coach of the 2018-19 Don Mills Flyers U16 AAA team that went on to carry a 77-0-6-1 en route to an OHL Cup, while setting records upon records.
