Generals acquire Lockhart, racks up four points in debut
The Oshawa Generals made a rare trade with their long-time rival the Peterborough Petes on Friday, acquiring overage forward Connor Lockhart from the defending OHL champions. The move was announced just prior to puck drop between the Generals and Petes on Friday in Oshawa. Lockhart didn’t play in the game.
The Petes acquired London’s third round pick in 2025 along with Oshawa’s fifth round choice in 2027 in exchange for Lockhart, bringing their number of overage players down to three with defenders Cam Gauvreau and Samuel Mayer along with centreman Jax Dubois.
Lockhart, who had recorded seven points (1-6–7) in as many games to start the season with the Petes, put up a goal and three assists in Oshawa’s 6-2 win over the visiting Brantford Bulldogs on Sunday.
“I’d like to thank Connor for his dedication to the Petes Organization and the Peterborough Community over the past two seasons,” noted Petes General Manager Mike Oke. “With league rules only allowing three over-age players per team, we had to make the very difficult decision to move Connor. We believe that we found a great fit for him to finish his junior career in search of an NHL contract, and we wish him the best of luck moving forward.”
A former third overall pick by the Erie Otters in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection and sixth round selection by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2021 NHL Draft, Lockhart helped the Petes hoist the Robertson Cup last spring, putting up 16 points (7-9–16) in 23 playoff games. He recorded 29 goals, 50 assists and 79 points over 66 regular season contests.
The 20-year-old from Kanata, Ont. has recorded 63 goals, 102 assists and 165 points over 195 career regular season games between Oshawa, Peterborough and Erie.
