Futures Watch: Barrie Colts
As the 2025–26 OHL season approaches this September, the Barrie Colts are looking to build on their Central Division leading (42–22–2–2) record from last year. We spoke with GM Marty Williamson about the new faces fans should be keeping an eye on as the team prepares for the upcoming campaign.

Player Spotlights:
Aleksandr Sementsov – LW
Drafted in the first round (18th overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection from the Halton Hurricanes U16 AAA program, Sementsov is a left-shot winger from St. Petersburg, Russia. The 5’9” forward had an outstanding season, appearing in 69 games and recording 136 points (51-85–136). He also earned the honours of OMHA SCTA U16 AAA Player of the Year.
“Aleksandr was a standout with the Halton U16 program, being their offensive leader. Since our development camp, he’s looked bigger, stronger, and ready for the challenge of playing in our league. We expect him to be a key piece of our young core moving forward and are excited to see him step into our lineup.”
Eamon Edgar – C
Drafted in the second round (35th overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection from the Sun County Panthers U16 AAA program, Edgar is a centreman from Belle River, Ont. In 24 regular-season games, he tallied 38 points (24-14–38) and led his team in playoff scoring with 15 points over 10 games. After he completed his U16 season, Edgar joined the Chatham Maroons (GOJHL) in their post-season run. In 15 playoff games, the underage forward scored an impressive eight times while adding nine assists en route to winning the Sutherland Cup.

Joseph Salandra – RW
Drafted in the third-round (50th overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection from the USHS-Prep, Salandra is a RW from Pleasantville, NY. He spent the past season with Brunswick School of the USHS-Prep, where he tallied an impressive 72 points (38-34–72) in just 35 games. Before that, he starred for the Mid Fairfield Rangers 16U AAA program, recording 94 points (52-42–94) across 60 games. Salandra is committed to Harvard University for the 2027-28 NCAA season.
