Frontenacs sign goaltender Gavin Betts
Kingston, Ontario – The Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club is excited to announce the signing of goaltender Gavin Betts to an OHL Scholarship and Development agreement.
Gavin was selected by the Frontenacs in the second round, using the 37th overall pick during the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. He was the first goaltender chosen in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
“Gavin is a goaltender that shows elite level skill.” said General Manager, Kory Cooper. “He has shown us the ability to make timely, key saves, and we have not seen him give up on a puck yet. In the short period of time we have been able to work with him, it is evident to us that he takes his preparation seriously and does everything in his control to put himself in a position to succeed.”
The 5’11”, 174 lbs. goalie from Toronto, ON joins the Frontenacs from the Mississauga Rebels U16 AAA program. Betts led his team to the 2024 OHL Cup, where he posted a 2.18 GAA to go along with an impressive .918 SV% over 5 games, posting a record of 3-1-1.
“Kingston was the team I highlighted as my #1 and this is exactly where I wanted to end up. It’s worked out perfect!” said Gavin. “I can’t wait to get to meet all the fans and get into the community. I’m excited to meet my teammates and words can’t describe how excited I am to get started.”
Betts participated in Kingston Frontenacs Development Camp on May 3rd through May 5th, and will return for training camp in late August. Stay tuned to our social media channels, as well as kingstonfrontenacs.com, for more info as it becomes available.
