The Ontario Hockey League continues to produce standouts at the professional level, with alumni making headlines across the NHL and AHL. From milestone moments to first career goals, OHL grads continue to shape the hockey landscape every week. Here’s a look at the top alumni stories from the past seven days.
Feature Stories of the Week (NHL)
Mark Scheifele (Barrie)
Was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week after compiling eight points (3-5–8), including a pair of game-winning goals, across three appearances to help propel the Winnipeg Jets to a perfect week. His winner on March 3 marked his franchise-leading 18th career overtime goal, which is also tied for seventh-most in NHL history. The 32-year-old, who leads Winnipeg in goals, assists, and points this season, ranks sixth in the NHL with 78 points (30-48–78) through 62 games in 2025-26.
Jack Quinn (Ottawa)
Recorded his first career hat trick and added an assist on Tuesday night, helping lead the Buffalo Sabres to their eighth straight win.
Matthew Schaefer (Erie)
Collected his 27th assist of the season, the third-most by an 18-year-old defenseman in NHL history. He also recorded the fourth overtime point of his career.

Alex Nylander (Mississauga)
Was named the AHL’s Second Star of the Night on March 11 after recording four points (2-2–4) along with a +5 rating. He currently sits fourth on the team in scoring with 33 points (14-19–33).
Sandis Vilmanis (Sarnia/North Bay)
Was named the AHL’s Third Star of the Night on March 7 after recording two goals, including the overtime winner, in his first game since early January.
Graeme Clarke (Ottawa)
Was named the AHL’s First Star of the Night on March 7 after recording four points (2-2–4) with a +4 rating.

- Drew Doughty (Guelph) – Scored his 30th career game-tying goal and is now tied for the most by a defenseman in Los Angeles Kings history.
