Friday Night Faceoff: Pridham and Humphreys make immediate impact with Rangers
The Kitchener Rangers have gained two key additions following a groundbreaking eligibility shift announced back in November, with Jack Pridham and Christian Humphreys making an immediate impact since joining the Blueshirts. With a 2025 OHL Playoffs spot secured, the Rangers (37-11-4-1) sit third in the Western Conference entering tonight’s Friday Night Faceoff matchup against the Kingston Frontenacs.
With Humphreys coming from the University of Michigan where he started the season, and Pridham bound for Boston University next fall, both players have embraced the challenge of the OHL and have found a strong fit within Kitchener’s high-achieving environment.
“Having the opportunity to play in Kitchener has been great so far,” Pridham shared. “It’s an elite organization with detailed and expert coaching.”
A third round pick (92nd overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2024 NHL Draft, Pridham made his OHL debut on November 5 and has since tallied 37 points (17-20-37) in 34 games. The 6-foot-2, 185lb. right-winger from Stouffville, Ont. began the season with the BCHL’s West Kelowna Warriors before transitioning to Kitchener.
“The hockey competition is both challenging yet rewarding in this League. It’s fast-paced with many strong players on each team.”
Another standout newcomer, Humphreys has thrived in his transition to the OHL, recording 18 points (5-13-18) in his first 15 games.
“Joining the OHL has been the best for my development and has made me a more detailed person on and off the ice,” he said. “Kitchener is such a high-class organization that takes the best care of their players and gets us ready to go each night.”
Humphreys joined the Rangers at the start of the New Year. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native spent the past two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program in the USHL and began this season with the NCAA’s University of Michigan Wolverines. Humphreys was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the seventh round (215th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft.
“My time in Kitchener has been amazing, the city, rink, coaches, and fans are amazing. The competition is hard every night. The game is fast, and everyone thinks the game at such a high level, which makes it fun each night to play.”
As the Rangers continue their push for a Midwest Division title hot on the heels of the London Knights, Pridham and Humphreys will be key contributors to their success.
