The Flint Firebirds struck for seven goals while netminder Emanuel Vella made 51 saves, backstopping his club to a 7-2 road win over the Kitchener Rangers. The opportunistic Firebirds were outshot 53-29 but managed to take a commanding victory as Jack Wismer (9, 10) led the way with two goals and an assist. Rookie forward Evan Vierling (3, 4) also scored twice while first-year defender Michael Bianconi had an assist and finished with a plus-6 rating. Ty Dellandrea (17), Ethan Keppen (17) and Hunter Holmes (7) rounded out the Flint scoring as the Firebirds snapped a three-game slide. Keppen’s goal extends his point streak to 10 games. Rookies Donovan Sebrango (3) and Reid Valade (2) scored third period power play goals for Kitchener as the Rangers fell to 20-22-3-0. Flint improves to 9-36-3-0.

SUDBURY 7, PETERBOROUGH 4
The Sudbury Wolves spread the scoring around in a 7-4 home win over the Peterborough Petes. 2019 NHL Draft prospect Blake Murray (20) led the way with a goal and two assists while Liam Ross (6), Nolan Hutcheson (14), Shane Bulitka (13), Drake Pilon (8), Cole Candella (7) and Adam Ruzicka (17) also tallied. Macauley Carson also added two assists as Sudbury outshot Peterborough 33-24. The Petes responded with an Adam Timleck (15, 16, 17) hat-trick while Liam Kirk (15) also found the back of the net. Semyon Der-Arguchintsev picked up a pair of assist as the Petes fell to 23-21-1-1. Sudbury sits six points back of first place Niagara in the Central Division sporting a 27-16-2-1 record.

SAGINAW 7, KINGSTON 1
Nicholas Porco (17, 18) opened the scoring with a pair of first period goals and the Saginaw Spirit never looked back, skating to a 7-1 win in Kingston for their fifth straight victory. Jake Goldowski (9), Bode Wilde (13), Damien Giroux (18), Justin Murray (9) and Camaryn Baber (3) also tacked on goals while Danny Katic and Albert Michnac had a pair of assists. New York Islanders prospect Wilde earned first star honours with a goal and two assists as he sits third among OHL defenders with 49 points (13-36–49). Ryan Cranford (13) broke up Tristan Lennox’s shutout bid with 1:20 remaining in regulation as the rookie turned aside 20 of the 21 shots he faced. Kingston’s Brendan Bonello took the loss, making 29 saves as Saginaw outshot Kingston 36-21. The Fronts drop their third straight and ninth in the past 10, falling to 12-33-1-0. The Spirit sit just one point back of first place Sault Ste. Marie in the West Division with a 30-10-4-1 record.

The London Knights got the better of the Windsor Spitfires for a second straight night, doing so on home ice as Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Liam Foudy (23) led the way with a goal and three assists. Connor McMichael (28) pitched in with a goal and two helpers while Kevin Hancock (38), Evan Bouchard (8), Alec Regula (6), Matvey Guskov (8) and Antonio Stranges (10) also found the back of the net. Joseph Raaymakers built off his 100th OHL win on Thursday with a 22-save shutout, the eighth of his OHL career. London improves to 32-7-5-1 while Windsor drops a fourth straight decision, falling to 20-25-2-1.

MISSISSAUGA 4, BARRIE 3 – OT
Draft eligible blueliner Thomas Harley (9) scored 2:08 into overtime as the Mississauga Steelheads edged visiting Barrie 4-3. Harley enjoyed a three-point night with a goal and two assists while Cole Schwindt (12), Liam Ham (6) and Cole Carter (29) also found the back of the net in Mississauga’s fourth straight win. Colts forward Jacob Tortora (11) tied things at three with 3:53 remaining in the third period, helping his team earn a single point in the OT loss. Aidan Brown (7) and Nate Allensen (3) also scored for the Colts as they dropped their third straight, falling to 19-24-2-0. The Steelheads sit eight point back of fourth place Sudbury in the Eastern Conference, sporting a 22-19-4-1 record.

OTTAWA 9, OSHAWA 6
The Ottawa 67’s and host Oshawa Generals combined for 15 goals as the Barber Poles skated to a 9-6 win behind a hat-trick from Kyle Maksimovich (25, 26, 27). Maksimovich finished with four points while fellow Ottawa newcomer Lucas Chiodo registered four assists. Tye Felhaber (49) inched closer to the 50-goal plateau with a marker of his own while Austen Keating (16), Marco Rossi (19), Sam Bitten (10), Jack Quinn (12) and Mitchell Hoelscher (8) tacked on additional goals. Ottawa’s nine goals came on 31 shots while Oshawa stayed in the game, going 4-for-7 on the power play while outshooting the 67’s 38-31. Anthony Salinitri (35, 36) scored twice for the Gens while other goals came from Kyle MacLean (12), Nicolas Mattinen (14), Ty Tullio (10) and Brett Neumann (31). Ottawa’s third straight win sees the 67’s improve to 33-9-3-1, giving them a 12-point lead over the 28-16-2-0 Generals atop the East Division. The two clubs meet in Saturday’s Sportsnet CHL Showcase in the nation’s capital.

Dmitri Samorukov (4) and Liam Hawel (24) each had a goal and an assist as the Guelph Storm took care of the Owen Sound Attack 6-1 on home ice. Sean Durzi (8) scored against his former club while Fedor Gordeev (4), MacKenzie Entwistle (19) and Keegan Stevenson (15) also found the scoresheet. Rookie forward Steven Grant picked up the first two points of his OHL career with a pair of assists. Anthony Popovich turned aside 29 shots for the win, surrendering the lone Owen Sound goal off the stick of Andrew Perrott (2) with just 1:01 remaining in the third period. Isaac Ratcliffe picked up an assist to extend his point streak to 11 games. The Storm improve to 25-13-4-4 while Owen Sound suffers a sixth straight loss, falling to 22-20-2-2.
