The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) is home to 20 teams—17 in Canada and three in the United States. Shifting the focus beyond hockey operations, the OHL aims to highlight the distinctiveness of each member club. HISTORY
London is a city in southwestern Ontario, located at the confluence of the Thames River and North Thames River. Approximately 200 km from both Toronto and Detroit, London is a vibrant and growing community with a population of over 422,000. The London Knights have a storied history in the Ontario Hockey League, dating back to their founding in 1965 as the London Nationals. The team was renamed the Knights in 1968 and has since become one of the league’s most successful and recognized franchises. The Knights have captured multiple OHL championships, including titles in 2005, 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2024, with Memorial Cup victories in 2005 and 2016. The franchise’s sustained success has been shaped in large part by the leadership of Mark and Dale Hunter, who have been pivotal in building a winning culture and developing elite talent. Known for their strong player development, the Knights have produced numerous NHL stars, reinforcing their reputation as a powerhouse in junior hockey.
EDUCATION
Current London Knights high school players attend Catholic Central High School. Over the years, the Knights have seen several players excel academically. London is also home to Western University and Fanshawe College, leading institutions that offer excellent post-secondary education opportunities for players pursuing academics alongside their hockey careers.

ARENA
Canada Life Place is a premier sports and entertainment centre located in downtown London, the largest such venue in Southwestern Ontario. Previously known as the John Labatt Centre and Budweiser Gardens, it replaced the 40-year-old London Ice House in the south end of the city in 2002. With a hockey seating capacity of approximately 9,046, the arena serves as the home of the London Knights and hosts a variety of concerts, events, and community activities, making it a key part of the city’s entertainment landscape.

London Knights players are supported by 30 billet families who provide them with a home away from home during their hockey careers. These families play a crucial role in the players’ development, offering them a safe, welcoming environment where they can focus on both their academics and athletic pursuits.
NOTABLE ALUMNI
The London Knights have produced one of the strongest NHL alumni lists in the CHL, with several players achieving great success in their professional careers. Notable alumni include Corey Perry, a Stanley Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist, Patrick Kane, a three-time Stanley Cup winner and former MVP, and Mitch Marner, an elite playmaker for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Red Tilson Trophy winner during the Knights’ 2016 Memorial Cup championship. These players, along with many other talented individuals, highlight the exceptional development system within the Knights organization, showcasing the team’s ability to nurture top-tier talent. Additionally, three Knights players, Dino Ciccarelli, Brendan Shanahan, and Darryl Sittler, have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, further solidifying the franchise’s legacy of producing elite hockey talent.
