Colts name Luke Bignell captain
The Barrie Colts announced via Twitter (@OHLBarrieColts) prior to their game in London on Friday that third-year veteran Luke Bignell has been named captain of the club.
Bignell inherits the ‘C’ from fellow Kitchener, Ont. native Jason Willms who joined the London Knights earlier this week. The 19-year-old Bignell has recorded 28 points (11-17–28) over 37 games this season.
A 6-foot-1, 178Ib. centreman, Bignell was originally a fifth round pick of the Colts in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. He’s registered 59 career points (27-32–59) over 161 regular season games.
Both Bignell’s older brother Adam (2010-15) and father Greg (1986-90) patrolled the blue line with the Belleville Bulls.
