Chromiak and Petrovsky to represent Slovakia at 2022 World Juniors
Two OHL players are off to Alberta to represent Slovakia at the upcoming 2022 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. Kingston Frontenacs forward Martin Chromiak and Owen Sound Attack forward Servac Petrovsky are preparing to put forth their best effort for their country.
A 19-year-old from Ilava, Slovakia, Chromiak returns to the World Juniors after scoring once in five games for the Slovaks last year. The 5-foot-10, 192Ib. right-winger has 32 points (13-19–32) through 23 games with the Frontenacs this season, recording a pair of four-point performances along the way. Chromiak was a fifth round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in 2020, and joined the Frontenacs as the second overall pick of the 2019 CHL Import Draft.
A 17-year-old centreman, Petrovsky hails from Velky Saris, Slovakia and is eligible for the 2022 NHL Draft. He’s been a key part of Owen Sound’s forward corps this season, recording 20 points (8-12–20) through his first 25 OHL contests. He joined the Attack as the 33rd overall pick of the 2021 CHL Import Draft. Petrovsky earned a silver medal for Slovakia at the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup last summer. He’ll be making his first appearance at the World Juniors.
