Central Division foes exchange veterans Assadourian, Tiller
The Barrie Colts and Niagara IceDogs swapped 2005-born veterans at different positions on Tuesday.
New IceDogs general manager Frank Evola acquired St. Catharines product Grayson Tiller from the Barrie Colts in his first move, sending forward Alex Assadourian and Sarnia’s fifth round pick in 2027 to the Colts in exchange.
Tiller, who is committed to Brock University for the 2026-27 season, brings 214 regular season games of OHL experience to the IceDogs after recording 20 points (7-13–20) over 67 games in 2024-25. He had a strong playoff showing for the Colts this past spring, helping them reach the Eastern Conference Final with 10 points (2-8–10) in 16 games.
Assadourian has played in 215 career regular season matchups between Niagara and Barrie. The Stouffville, Ont. product had 32 points (14-18–32) over an injury-shortened 38 game season in 2024-25 before contributing six points (4-2–6) in Niagara’s first round series against the Colts.
“Alex brings a high-end offensive skill set to our lineup for the upcoming season, which is important after the loss of some key contributors from this past season,” said Colts general manager Marty Williamson. “He’s driven to continue his development and take a big step forward, and we’re excited to add a player of his calibre to our roster. We look forward to welcoming him to the Colts family and start working with him.”
Assadourian previously attended Toronto Maple Leafs rookie camp and gives the Colts a solid overage presence for 2025-26.
