Bulldogs donate $10,000 to Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation
Some Brantford Bulldogs players spread the holiday cheer this past week with a Christmas-time visit to the pediatric unit at Brantford General Hospital, visiting patients and delivering gifts.
Among the gifts delivered, Bulldogs players presented the Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) Foundation with a $10,000 donation. According to a video of the visit posted on social media by the team, the players were given the sum by team ownership, and a choice of where to donate the money to – choosing the hospital.
“It’s special over the Christmas time, to be able to give back to the community,” said defenceman and Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Ben Danford, in the video. “The whole Brantford Bulldogs organization is really big [on] giving back.”
The players spent time with the children in the pediatric unit, delivering presents including stuffed animals and toys, as well as helping with Christmas decorations.
“Everyone deserves that over the holidays and Christmas time,” said defenceman Owen Protz, a Montreal Canadiens prospect. “To do something like this, for our team, it’s amazing.”
The visit was appreciated not only by the kids, but by hospital staff as well.
“Not only are we exceptionally grateful for their significantly generous gift of $10,000,” said Kari Wilson, Executive Director of BCHS Foundation. “But it was a particular treasure to see the joy that they brought to the children’s faces.”
This is the Bulldogs Foundation’s second significant contribution to the BCHS this year. The Foundation, alongside with the Hyman family and team ownership group, donated $200,000 for pediatric equipment in January.
