Braeden Bowman named 32nd captain in Storm history

Guelph, ON – The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today that overage forward Braeden Bowman has been named captain of the club for the 2023-2024 season, making him the 32nd captain in franchise history. Bowman will be joined by assistant captains Matt Poitras, Michael Buchinger, and Brayden Hislop.

“I am very proud to be able to announce Braeden Bowman as our captain for the upcoming season,” said Head Coach Chad Wiseman. “Braeden’s commitment, work ethic, and attitude on and off the ice sets the standard of what it is to be a Guelph Storm hockey player.”

The 2003-born Bowman is currently in his fourth OHL season with the club where he has recorded 60 goals, and 49 assists, for 109 points in 116 games. The veteran forward was originally drafted in the fifth round, 96th overall by the Guelph Storm in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection. The Kitchener, Ont. native attended Vancouver Canucks training camp this fall.

“I’m honoured to be able to lead our team this year,” said Bowman. “I’m excited to take what I’ve learned from previous leaders and apply it to our group. I can’t wait to get going Friday in front of an electric home crowd.”
