67’s Smyth commits to Brock University
The Brock University Badgers men’s hockey program has announced that former Ottawa 67’s defenceman Derek Smyth has committed for the 2024-25 season.
Smyth, a local St. Catharines product, played in the OHL from 2021 to 2024. With the Ottawa squad, Smyth amassed five goals and 25 assists in 167 games.
“Brock is a great school and has a great hockey program that is close to where I am from,” Smyth said. “This time at Brock will allow me to continue to develop and mature as a player and person.”
The 6-foot-4 blueliner was originally selected by the 67’s in the 11th round, 220th overall in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection.
Smyth is planning to study Media and Communications at the University.
