OHL 20 in 20 Futures Watch: Barrie Colts
The exciting new additions of CHL Import Draft choices Andrei Svechnikov and Alexei Lipanov along with the selection of defenceman Victor Hadfield first overall in the inaugural OHL Under-18 Priority Selection have the Barrie Colts entering the 2017-18 season with a depth chart full of promising young prospects. First overall OHL Priority Selection choice Ryan Suzuki leads the way after the London Jr. Knights centreman was named the ALLIANCE Player of the Year before impressing in a Junior B playoff call-up with the London Nationals.
In addition to a commitments from Suzuki and Lipanov for the 2017-18 season, the Colts have also come to terms with a pair of 2016 selections in sixth rounder Sam Rhodes and 11th round goaltender Kai Edmonds.
Suzuki will join 2017 second round pick Nate Allensen representing the Colts at Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-17 Selection Camp in Calgary on July 22nd.
