OHL grads enjoy summer with the Stanley Cup
The Pittsburgh Penguins were crowned Stanley Cup Champions for the fourth time in franchise history this season and now it’s time to celebrate!
Each player gets to enjoy a day with the Stanley Cup, with many choosing to celebrate with family, friends and their surrounding hometown community.
Five different OHL graduates and a former coach hockey’s most prized possession this past June, with Trevor Daley (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds), Tom Kuhnhackl (Niagara IceDogs), Olli Maatta (London Knights) and Matt Murray (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds) all on Pittsburgh’s playoff roster.
Here’s a look at how OHL graduates have enjoyed their time with the Stanley Cup across Ontario this summer.
Olli Maatta (London Knights / Jyvaskyla, Finland – August 18th)
Former two-time OHL champion Olli Maatta has added a Stanley Cup title to his resume, bringing the NHL’s most prized possession home to Jyvaskyla, Finland to visit with children in schools and hospitals.

Jacques Martin (Peterborough Petes, Guelph Platers / Saint-Pascal, ON – August 8th)
Former Peterborough Petes assistant coach and Guelph Platers head coach Jacques Martin (1983-86), an assistant coach with the Penguins, brought the Stanley Cup to his hometown of Saint-Pascal, a community just east of Ottawa and south of the Ottawa River.
