St. Louis Blues’ prospect Lukas Fischer assigned to Springfield
Defenceman Lukas Fischer is set to join the Springfield Thunderbirds, the AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, as they prepare for a best-of-three series against the Charlotte Checkers. The 2024 second-round selection signed his entry-level contract with St. Louis in March 2025, and has already seen action at the professional level, appearing in three games with Springfield last season.
Fischer spent the 2025–26 OHL season continuing to build his reputation as a reliable two-way blueliner. He began the year as captain of the Sarnia Sting, recording 26 points (5-21-26) in 39 games while logging significant minutes on the back end. The Brighton, MI native was dealt to the Soo Greyhounds halfway through the season, where he provided a steady presence on the blue line and added 19 points (3-15-19) in 26 regular season games.
Fischer carried that momentum into the OHL Playoffs, contributing six points (1-5-6) in 10 playoff games, while playing a key role in the Greyhounds’ defensive core.
