Storm trade Captain Charlie Paquette to Bulldogs for draft picks
The Guelph Storm and Brantford Bulldogs have completed a trade that sees forward Charlie Paquette heading to Brantford in exchange for a package of OHL Priority Selection picks.
As part of the deal, Guelph receives a 2027 second-round pick (Brantford), a 2028 second-round pick (Kingston), and a 2029 third-round pick (Ottawa). The Bulldogs acquire Paquette along with a 2026 third-round pick (London).
Paquette departs Guelph after five seasons with the Storm, where he became one of the most durable and consistent players in franchise history. Originally selected 31st overall in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-2, 207-pound forward recorded 165 points in 294 regular-season games, ranking third all-time in Storm history for games played. He was named team captain to open the 2025-26 season and posted 36 points (17 goals, 19 assists) in 36 games prior to the trade.
During the 2024-25 campaign, Paquette set career highs with 37 goals, 33 assists, and 70 points, earning selection by the Dallas Stars in the seventh round of the 2025 NHL Draft.
“With the Storm hosting the Memorial Cup in 2026-27, this was the right move for the organization but a very difficult one at the same time,” said Storm General Manager George Burnett. “Charlie has made significant improvement in his game and had a very positive impact in the community during his time in Guelph.”
In Brantford, Paquette reunites with longtime teammate Jett Luchanko and joins a Bulldogs lineup featuring multiple former OHL captains.
“Charlie Paquette is a player we’ve been targeting for a long time,” said Bulldogs General Manager Spencer Hyman. “He’s big, strong, and he can score. He brings leadership, plays hard, and fills a clear need for us, especially looking toward the playoffs.”
The move allows Guelph to add future draft capital as it plans ahead for its role as host of the 2027 Memorial Cup, while Brantford adds a proven scorer and experienced leader for the stretch ahead.
