From the O to the Pros: OHL Alumni Weekly Round-Up (Nov. 21, 2025)
The Ontario Hockey League continues to produce standouts at the professional level, with alumni making headlines across the NHL and AHL. From milestone moments to first career goals, OHL grads continue to shape the hockey landscape every week. Here’s a look at the top alumni stories from the past seven days.
Feature Stories of the Week (NHL)
Matthew Schaefer (Erie Otters)
2025 first-overall pick Matthew Schaefer is currently leading all NHL defensemen in goals with seven, becoming the youngest player (18 years, 76 days) to do so at the quarter mark of a season. On Friday, he netted the overtime winner for the Islanders. He became the third-youngest player in the last 80 years to score in consecutive games, and the youngest defenseman in NHL history to achieve the feat.
