World U-17 Hockey Challenge: Day 6 Recap – Canada Red Captures Gold in Truro
Canada Red vs. Canada White
Final: 6 (CAN RED) – 3 (CAN WHITE)
Charlie Murata (Flint Firebirds), Ryerson Edgar (Niagara IceDogs) and Cam Warren (North Bay Battalion) each found the back of the net as Canada Red completed its gold medal quest in Truro, Nova Scotia, defeating Canada White by a score of 6-3.
John McLaughlin (Windsor Spitfires) recorded a pair of assists for the victors while Peter Green (Brampton Steelheads) contributed a helper.
First overall OHL Priority Selection choice Kaden McGregor (Peterborough Petes) had a goal and an assist for Canada White in the loss. Brock Chitaroni (Ottawa 67’s) also scored while Brenner Lammens (Sarnia Sting) recorded an assist.
Trailing 4-1, Canada White made things interesting, clawing back to within a goal before Warren’s empty-netter with 1:22 remaining put things out of reach.
Canada Red’s Charlie Murata (Flint Firebirds) finished third in tournament scoring with 10 points (4-6–10).
