2019 Rogers OHL Championship Series Schedule
Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced the schedule for the 2019 Rogers OHL Championship Series for the J. Ross Robertson Cup.
The fourth round series will feature the Eastern Conference champion Ottawa 67’s against the Western Conference champion Guelph Storm. The 67’s captured their fourth Bobby Orr Trophy as East winners in dramatic fashion clinching the title with overtime heroics following a last minute tying goal in Game 4 against the Oshawa Generals on Wednesday night. The Storm overcame a 3-1 series deficit to eliminate the Spirit by a score of 3-2 in Game 7 on Monday in Saginaw. They capture their third Wayne Gretzky Trophy and first since their last OHL Championship in 2014.
The 67’s return to the OHL Championship Series for the first time since 2005 and are in search of their fourth Robertson Cup previously winning in 1977, 1984, and 2001. The Storm have won the league title three times including 1998, 2004, and 2014.
The Robertson Cup is emblematic of the Ontario Hockey League’s championship series. The Cup was presented by J. Ross Robertson, who was president of the Ontario Hockey Association from 1901 to 1905. Since its inception, the Robertson Cup has been won by 29 different teams with the Oshawa Generals leading the way with 13 championships including a record seven straight from 1938-44.
The winner of the Rogers OHL Championship Series will advance to the 2019 Memorial Cup presented by Kia which takes place May 16-26 and also features the host Halifax Mooseheads along with the champions from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League.
