(SUDBURY, ON)<\/strong> \u2014 The Sudbury Wolves concluded training camp and hit the ice for their first preseason matchup on Monday night.<\/p>\n

The Wolves opened the preseason with a bang, cruising to a 4\u20132 victory over the Barrie Colts at the Zancor Centre. Sudbury put together a strong performance on both ends of the ice, holding the Colts to just two goals en route to the win.<\/p>\n

The Wolves will continue making roster decisions as they work toward finalizing their lineup ahead of the 2026\u201327 season and the home opener on Friday, September 18.<\/p>\n

Wolves Come Out Flying in the First <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Wolves opened the scoring early in the first period when Blake Clayton (1) jumped into the play and buried his first goal of the preseason at the 5:57 mark, with Ethan Dean (1) picking up the assist.<\/p>\n

Having played alongside one another for the past two seasons, it was only fitting that Clayton and Dean would combine to open the scoring and kick off the Wolves\u2019 preseason together.<\/p>\n

More of the same in the Second<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Early in the second period, a Barrie Colts defenceman was assessed a two-minute cross-checking penalty, giving the Wolves an opportunity to extend their lead.<\/p>\n

Just 5:30 into the frame, the Wolves capitalized on the man advantage as last year\u2019s first-round pick, Brayden Bennett, sniped a shot short side to make it 2\u20130. Colton Colby (1) and Mason Walker (1) were credited with the assists.<\/p>\n

Later in the period, Sudbury added another goal off an odd-man rush. At the 12:50 mark, Genc Ula (1) finished off a two-on-one opportunity to extend the Wolves\u2019 lead. Blake Clayton (1) and Ethan Dean (2) picked up the assists, giving the duo another point on the night.<\/p>\n

After 40 minutes, Bj\u00f6rn Bron\u00e4s was pulled from the game after stopping all 13 shots he faced, finishing the night with a perfect 13-for-13 performance.<\/p>\n

Colts Make a Late Push <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Barrie Colts wouldn\u2019t go away quietly, striking early in the third period as Sebastian Mogull (2) scored Barrie\u2019s first goal of the game to cut the Wolves\u2019 lead to two.<\/p>\n

Later in the frame, Ethan Armstrong (1) found the back of the net at the 14:14 mark, cutting Sudbury\u2019s lead to just one.<\/p>\n

With Barrie pushing to complete the comeback, Blake Clayton (2) put the finishing touch on the victory, scoring his second goal of the game and recording his third point of the night to seal the 4\u20132 Wolves win.<\/p>\n
