Wolves Complete Trade with Windsor Spitfires
(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves announce that they have acquired two defencemen from the Windsor Spitfires, Nick DeAngelis and Trevor O’Dell in exchange for Conor Walton and five draft selections; a 2024 2nd round pick, a 3rd and 6th round selections in 2025, a 2nd round pick in 2026 and a conditional 15th round pick in 2025.
“Conor is a great young man and has a bright future in this game,” said Sudbury Wolves VP & General Manager Rob Papineau. “We wanted to acquire an older veteran defenceman with strong regular season and playoff experience and to do so you need to be willing to sacrifice part of your future to do so. This is a great opportunity for Conor, and we wish him all the best in Windsor.”
Nick DeAngelis, a 6’2, 195lbs., from King City, ON was drafted by the Spitfires 36th overall in the 2022 OHL priority selection. During his time in Windsor, he’s registered 39 points (6G-33A), a +13, and 67 penalty minutes through 130 games played in addition to 28 playoff games registering 5 assists. He was appointed to the Spitfires leadership square during his 2nd season with the team in 2022-23.
“We are thrilled to add Nicholas DeAngelis to our team today.” said Papineau. “He has had a couple of outstanding seasons in Windsor and is coming off a great main training camp in Columbus. He is a strong veteran left shot D-ma who has played in 28 playoff games in the past two seasons.”
Trevor O’Dell from Stouffville, ON., is a left-shot 6’3 defenceman selected by the Windsor Spitfires in the 7th round of the 2022 OHL Draft. O’Dell played in 5 pre-season games with the Spitfires before starting the season with the Toronto Patriots where he already has a point to his name in 2 games played.
“We are also excited to introduce Trevor O’Dell to the pack. He had a great camp in Windsor and was just signed by them. He is currently with the Toronto Patriots playing big minutes for them. A tall player still who is growing into his body, he is a strong skater and has a good stick. Looking ahead as we feel Trevor will be a player that can fill the void left by moving Conor to Windsor.”
The Sudbury Wolves would like to thank Conor Walton for his commitment and dedication to the organization and to the City of Greater Sudbury. We wish him the best of luck in Windsor.
Wolves fans will get to see Nick in action this Sunday when the Wolves host the North Bay Battalion at 2:05pm. Tickets are on-sale now at greatersudbury.ca/tickets and at the Sudbury Arena Box Office.
