Wolves Battle Bulldogs in Potential Playoff Preview
The Sudbury Wolves are set to return to the Den this Friday night at 7:05 p.m. for an exciting matchup against the Brantford Bulldogs. The game is sponsored by Real Canadian Superstore and will feature the Wolves sporting fan-designed jerseys that will be available for auction immediately following the game.
Riding a five-game win streak, the Wolves have moved up to sixth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 31-26-5-0. This win streak has significantly strengthened their playoff position, as they’ve now clinched a playoff berth, jumped three points ahead of the Niagara IceDogs with a game in hand, and are just three points behind the Brampton Steelheads for the fifth seed.
Sudbury forward Quentin Musty has been at the forefront of this surge, recording an outstanding 14 points (8 goals, 6 assists) in his last four games. Musty’s performance earned him the title of Cogeco OHL Player of the Week for the week of March 3rd. The Wolves head into Friday’s contest after a thrilling 8-6 victory in Brampton on Tuesday, which featured a four-point performance from Musty and a four-assist outing from Calgary Flames prospect Henry Mews.
The Brantford Bulldogs, currently atop both the East Division and the Eastern Conference standings with 85 points, are also jockeying for playoff positioning. With just five games remaining, they’ll look to maintain their spot as the top seed, facing off against Barrie, Oshawa, and Kingston in the final stretch. A key contributor to Brantford’s success this season has been Chicago Blackhawks prospect Nick Lardis, who made history on March 8th by scoring his 70th goal of the season in Saginaw. This milestone makes Lardis the first OHL player to hit the 70-goal mark since John Tavares in 2006/07.
This Friday’s game, proudly sponsored by Real Canadian Superstore, will include the fan-designed jerseys worn by the Wolves. Fans will have the chance to earn PC Optimum points throughout the night, with a special shopping cart race at the second intermission. Following the game, the game-worn jerseys will be available for purchase through an online auction via Dash.
