Five Players Commit to Hockey Club & Wolves Announce Pre-Season Roster of 29 Players
(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that five players have committed to the hockey club. The Wolves have trimmed the pre-season roster to 29 players.
“We had a great week. After last year we had some openings, and we are really happy with the young players and how they stepped up and played,” said Rob Papineau, Sudbury Wolves VP & General Manager. “Our veterans were also excellent this week both on and off the ice and showed great leadership.”
Forwards Henry Doucet and Rowan Henderson, defencemen Cole Wreggitt and Brady Smith, and goaltender Finn Marshall all signed with the club following the conclusion of training camp.
Papineau adds, “Henry is a powerful skating forward that we feel will become a difficult player for opposing teams to play against. He finished first at the OHL combine in skating.”
Henry Doucet was picked 54th overall during the 2024 OHL Priority Selection and described by the Wolves scouting staff as a big winner with a fast, physical play who finishes every check. Last season he finished 1st in the on-ice category during the 2024 OHL Combined. During his season with the Ottawa Myers Automotive U16 AAA team he scored 20 goals and 11 assists through 30 games played.
“Rowan had a great camp. He stood out in the orientation camp and kept it up throughout main camp,” said Papineau. “He is a smart player who skates very well. He is another U18 player that follows in the footsteps of Emmett Serensits, Nick DeGrazia, Mitchell Weeks and Nate Krawchuk.”
Rowan Henderson was selected 12th overall in the 2024 U18 OHL Priority Selection. The Wellesley, ON. native is described by the clubs scouting staff as a hard-working two-way forward who has strong skating ability. He plays a productive 200-foot-game, is an effective penalty killer, and provides offence with skilled playmaking and timely scoring. Following the 2023-24 season Rowan was named the top forward in the Ontario U18 AAA Championship tournament. He finished the season with the Waterloo Wolves U18 AAA team with 43 points (14G-29A) through 46 games played including 11 playoff games.
“Cole is a big smooth skating smart defenceman who had a tremendous camp. He will be a big part of our defensive core for years to come,” said Papineau.
Cole Wreggitt was selected by the Wolves 74th overall during the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. Wolves scouting reports describe Cole to be a solid d-man with elite skating that can play in all key situations, makes a good first pass and possess a physical play. This past season Cole played 36 games collecting 17 points (3G-14A) and 28 penalty minutes.
“Brady is a strong physical defenceman who makes a good first pass,” added Papineau. “He plays the game finishing his checks and makes it hard on opposing forwards.”
Brady Smith was selected 111rd overall in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. Wolves scouting reports describe him a natural leader who can command the ice with confidence and toughness. He’s a 6’2, 190lbs, 16-year-old who played for the Oshawa Generals U16 AAA team during the 2023-24 season. Through 49 games played with the Generals U16’s Brady notched 36 points with 6 goals and 30 assists.
“Finn has worked very hard the past couple seasons to continue to develop his game. He was outstanding last season for Georgetown in the OJHL. He is ready for the next step in his career,” adds Papineau.
Finn Marshall was selected in the 14th round (266th overall) during the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. Scouting staff described Finn as a competitive goaltender, has quick lower body movements with the ability to move fluidly in the net. This past season Finn played for the Georgetown Raiders where he had a goals against average of 2.85 and a save percentage of 0.915 through 33 games.
