Storm players attend local Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign kick-off event

Smile Cookies are back at Tim Hortons locations across Canada!

On Monday, April 27th, Storm players Grant Spada and Tyler Hopkins represented the Guelph Storm at a local Tim Hortons for the launch of the 2026 Smile Cookies.

They were joined by members of the Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, Tim Hortons, and local media to take part in a launch event which included speeches from community stakeholders and, of course, cookie decorating.

Smile Cookie week will run from April 27 to May 3, 2026. 100% of local Smile Cookie proceeds in Guelph will be donated to the Keep Kids Fed program, which provides nutritious food for local students through breakfast, morning meal, snack, and lunch programs. The Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington are proudly partnering with Tim Hortons locations in Arthur, Guelph, Harriston, Mount Forest, and Puslinch. The first-ever Smile Cookie campaign in 1996 raised funds to support Hamilton Children's Hospital. Since then, the annual charitable campaign has raised a total of more than $150 million for charities and community groups that are selected every year by Tim Hortons restaurant owners. In 2025 alone, the Smile Cookie campaign raised $22.6 million, supporting over 600 charities and community groups across Canada and in the United States.

5 Former Stormers to compete in the NHL’s 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs

A total of 5 Former Stormers are set to compete in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, part of a CHL-leading presence that continues to shape the NHL’s biggest stage. The list includes Jason Dickinson (EDM), Drew Doughty (LAK), Robby Fabbri (MIN), Nick Suzuki (MTL), and Sean Durzi (UTA). In all, 190 graduates of the Canadian Hockey League will take part in the postseason, accounting for more than 45 percent of the 417 players competing, the highest total of any development league in the world.

6 Storm Players listed on 2026 NHL Central Scouting Final Draft Rankings

A total of 6 Guelph Storm players have been included in NHL Central Scouting's Final Draft Rankings for the 2026 NHL Draft. Zach Jovanovski is 12th overall among North American goaltenders. Eric Frossard leads the way for Storm skaters ranked 68th overall after a strong second season with the team. Carter Stevens follows at 85th overall, and Layne Gallacher ranked 119th. First year forward, Illia Shybinskyi ranks 181st overall, followed by Rylan Singh at 201. The 2026 NHL Draft will be held June 26–27 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York, marking the fourth time the Buffalo Sabres have hosted the event. The NHL will once again use a decentralized format, with prospects and their families attending in person while team executives make selections remotely from their home markets. Buffalo has also hosted the NHL’s annual Scouting Combine since 2015 and will welcome the league’s top draft-eligible prospects again this spring. 2025/2026 Alternate Jersey Auction

The Guelph Storm are auctioning off the 2025/2026 black alternate jerseys. The black alternate jerseys, which launched in November 2024, feature crimson and white horizontal striping to match the logo. The trim of the player numbers features a metallic silver fabric, making the numbers pop on the black and crimson colouring. The design includes a new secondary logo on the shoulders, an “S” with a lightning effect, and a puck in the centre which was also seen on the 2024 Pink the Rink jerseys. The auction will begin on Wednesday, April 15th at 4:00pm and end on Tuesday, April 21st at 7:00pm starting with group one. Please note that there is sales tax applied on the auction and the auction will include an overtime period. Overtime will start if you are the highest bidder on an item, and another bid is placed in the last 60 seconds of the auction. The overtime auction period will run for two minutes. Shipping will be available for purchase once the auction is closed. While Spyke’s Sport Shop continues to ship to the United States, the Guelph Storm are not responsible for any potential taxes and duties placed on jerseys.

Nick Suzuki becomes the first Former Stormer to reach 100 points in a single NHL season

On Sunday, April 13th, Nick Suzuki became the first former Storm player to reach the 100 NHL point milestone in a single season. He also earned himself a spot in the Montreal Canadiens' history books as he became the fifth player in their franchise history to accomplish the feat. Nick suited up for 29 regular-season games with the Storm, where he registered 49 points (12-37-49), adding another 24 playoff games.

Jaakko Wycisk named to the preliminary Team Canada roster for 2026 IIHF U18 World Championship

First year forward, Jaakko Wycisk has been named to the preliminary Team Canada roster ahead of the 2026 IIHF U18 World Championship. The 6'1, 190lb centreman appeared in 60 games during his first season with the Storm, registering 43 points (16-27-43). The 17-year old from Tecumseth, Ont., has previously represented Canada at the 2025 U17 World Hockey Challenge, where he helped Team Canada White to a silver medal finish with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) in 5 games.

Simon Belohorsky to represent Czechia at the 2026 IIHF U18 World Championship

Rookie import selection Simon Belohorsky will represent Czechia at the 2026 IIHF U18 World Championship. The 6'1, 175lb winger appeared in 34 games during his first season with the Storm, registering 13 points (9-4-13). Simon represented Czechia at the 2024 U17 World Challenge, as well as the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky tournament.

Ethan Miedema commits to Bemidji State University

Overage forward Ethan Miedema has committed to Bemidji State University for the 2026-2027 season.

Miedema, a native of Cobourg, Ont., was selected fourth overall by the Windsor Spitfires in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. He played parts of two seasons with the Spitfires before being traded to the Eastern Conference Kingston Frontenacs. Between the two teams, Miedema appeared in 267 games, amassing 188 points. He was traded to the Storm during the 2025 off-season and quickly became an integral member of the team. He appeared in all 68 games, tallying 47 points (25-22-47). On Friday, March 20th, Ethan etched his name into the Ontario Hockey League history books after playing in his 334th game, putting him third in all-time regular-season games played. The following night, he registered his 100th OHL goal in what would be his final regular-season game as the team fell to the Erie Otters. Bemidji State University is a public university located in Bemidji, Minnesota. Their Men’s Hockey team, the Beavers, are an NCAA Division 1 program that competes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association conference.

Illia Shybinskyi to represent Ukraine at 2026 IIHF World Championship Division I

First-year winger Illia Shybsinskyi will represent the Ukraine at the 2026 IIHF World Championship. The Division I Group A tournament will be played in Poland from Saturday, May 2nd, until Friday, May 8th. The 5'11, 172lb winger appeared in 60 games during his first season with the Storm, registering 44 points (19-25-44). The 18-year old from Kyiv, Ukraine, has represented his nation at the IIHF U18 World Championship twice and most recently at the IIHF U20 Worlds in December 2025, where he played 5 games, registering 7 points.

Beauchesne signs ATO

Following the conclusion of the 2026 OHL Playoffs, Quinn Beauchesne signed an Amateur Try-Out agreement with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. The Ottawa, Ont., native was the 1st round, 14th overall selection by the Storm in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. Through three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, Quinn has appeared in 138 games, registering 66 points (15-51-66). Internationally, Beauchesne has represented Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, where he donned the ‘C’ for Canada Red. He won gold at both the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the 2025 IIHF U18 Worlds.
