Fashion Lighting Player Spotlight: Danny Zhilkin
Danny Zhilkin strives to play professional hockey and envisions himself winning the Stanley Cup.
His numbers with the Guelph Storm have been impressive and he has an opportunity to build on them before taking the next step in his hockey career.
The Winnipeg Jets prospect has played hockey for the majority of his life and is in his third season with the Storm. He has his eyes set on playing in the National Hockey League.
Zhilkin acknowledges that his parents have made the biggest impact on his young hockey career, they decided to make a big move across the world.
“They did everything for me and moved me from all the way from Russia to pursue my dream,” said the Moscow, Russia native. “I started playing hockey when I was four years old and I moved to Canada when I was nine.”
Last year, Zhilkin finished second on Guelph’s roster in points, posting 23 goals and 55 points in 66 games played in the 2021-22 regular season. He’s built on those numbers early this year, posting 8 goals and 21 points through 18 games of the season.
Danny Zhilkin looks up to Calgary Flames two-way forward Mikael Backlund and tries to emulate his game.
“I think he has a strong two-way game, he’s a great skater and he’s got a lot of skill to his game as well.”
