Tracking the Storm – Jamie Arniel
The Kingston, Ont., native, Jamie Arniel was selected by Guelph in the 2nd round of the 2005 OHL Priority Selection draft. Jamie spent 3-seasons with the Storm before being traded to the Sarnia Sting. In 149 games wearing the Storm jersey, Jamie notched 51 goals and 43 assists. Jamie has many off-ice achievements with the Storm as well, including the Guelph Storm Most Improved Player award (2006-2007), appeared in the 2007-2008 CHL Top Prospects Game, and represented Canada in the 2007 IIHF World Under-18 Championships.
Following his time with the Guelph Storm, Jamie spent several seasons in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins, appearing in 219 games. Following the end of the 2011/2012 season, Jamie took to Europe where he has played in several leagues including the Deutsche Hockey League and Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (presently the International Central European Hockey League). Jamie currently plays for the HK Popard which is part of the Slovak Extraliga, the top ice hockey league in Slovakia.
