The Guelph Storm, Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) and Special Olympics Ontario team up to raise funds and awareness for individuals with an intellectual disability
The Guelph Storm, Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), Special Olympics Ontario and Guelph Police Services are teaming up to raise awareness about the importance of individuals with an intellectual disability at our upcoming home game on Friday, November 17th at 7:30pm.
Friday’s game against the Niagara IceDogs will feature a Ceremonial Puck Drop with Chief Gord Cobey and Ryan Fox.
The awareness campaign is part of the ongoing commitment by the Guelph Storm, LETR, and Special Olympics Ontario to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Ontario.
“Since 2007, the OHL and its clubs have been a key partner of Special Olympics Ontario (SOO), supporting SOO with OHL Big Ticket Games, providing much-needed funds and awareness to 26,000 athletes living in Ontario with intellectual disabilities. SOO thanks the Guelph Storm and Guelph Police Service for their ongoing support of the movement. Together, we champion inclusion, and acceptance, and offer opportunities to many athletes in the community and throughout the province to participate and thrive in sport. Thank you!”
“Teaming up with Special Olympics and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the 16th straight season is something that makes our entire organization extremely proud. For 54 years, Special Olympics has enriched the lives of Canadians through the transformative power of sport and the Guelph Storm are thankful for the opportunity to spread this message at our Special Olympics game on Friday, November 17th,” said Matt Newby, Vice President, Business Operations of the Guelph Storm.
