(Guelph ON) The United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin has teamed up with the Guelph Storm to bring fans the Support a Rad!cal Recovery game on March 18th when the Sarnia Sing visit the Sleeman Centre. Sponsored by Sani-bin, fans will become more aware of the issues impacting our community and the Radical Recovery it needs.

As a society and a community we cannot return to the pre-pandemic ‘normal’ when it comes to social issues. The pandemic gave us an opportunity to really look at the issues our community was facing before the crisis began. Homelessness, food insecurity, declining mental health, addictions, isolation, elder care and the digital divide were all issues faced a year and half ago – the pandemic only exacerbated them and increased the urgency and impact on our community. It further showed the disproportionate impact on women and marginalized groups such as BIPOC, persons with disabilities and low-income households. Individuals and families who were already struggling were pushed further into hardship.

The game will feature a puck drop with Glenna Banda, Executive Director, United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin and Les Indoe from Sani-Bin. t-shirts for giveaways and concourse displays with information about local issues. There will also be opportunities for the community to help make a difference, including a donation table,  the 50/50 draw with half of the proceeds going to support United Way and finally a chuck a puck toss with the chance to win a Sleeman Muskoka Chair (Value $250) or a three year seasonal program certificate from Sani-bin.
