OHL Talent Posts Strong Results at 2026 NHL Scouting Combine by the Ontario Hockey League
A number of draft-eligible OHL players excelled in physical testing at the 2026 NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo, N.Y., this past week.
The OHL produced four first-place finishes, with Pierce Mbuyi (Owen Sound Attack), Cole Zurawski (Owen Sound Attack), Layne Gallacher (Guelph Storm) and Beckham Edwards (Sarnia Sting). Other standout OHL performers included Thomas Vandenberg (Ottawa 67’s), Wesley Royston (Owen Sound Attack), Caleb Malhotra (Brantford Bulldogs), Adam Novotny (Peterborough Petes), Ryder Cali (North Bay Battalion), Ethan Belchetz (Windsor Spitfires) and Maksim Sokolovskii (London Knights), all of whom recorded top results across multiple events.
A total of 20 OHL players attended the annual event, which featured 90 prospects. The NHL Scouting Combine provides the league’s 32 clubs with physical and medical evaluations of top draft prospects ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft, set for June 26-27 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo.

The 2026 NHL Draft will be held June 26–27 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York, marking the fourth time the Buffalo Sabres have hosted the event. The NHL will once again use a decentralized format, with prospects and their families attending in person while team executives make selections remotely from their home markets.
