January 3rd – In an exclusive interview, hockey player Tommy Budnick shared his passion for the sport, insights into skating, and advice for aspiring players.
When asked why he loves playing hockey, Budnick explained that it’s more than just a game for him. “I love playing hockey because it’s a place where I can get away from stress and everything and just be in the present moment with a group of people that I love,” he said. His heartfelt response underscores the sport’s ability to foster camaraderie and provide an escape from the pressures of everyday life.
On the technical side, Budnick revealed a fascinating detail about his skating skills. When asked how he stops on the ice, he admitted, “I actually don’t even know how to stop, it just happens! I guess I turn my body and I kind of just glide across the top layer of the ice.” This candid response highlights the intuitive nature of his skating style, a skill honed through years of practice and experience.
Finally, Budnick offered some inspiring advice to encourage others to take up hockey. “That’s a great question. I encourage them to play hockey by just being themselves and being in the moment. Finding something deeper than just the game to play for. You know, the love of the game, God, the family, whatever gets them to enjoy the moment and be truly happy on the ice.” His words serve as a reminder that hockey can be a deeply meaningful pursuit, offering players a chance to connect with their passions and values.
Tommy Budnick’s love for hockey and his thoughtful perspective on the game make him an inspiration for players and fans alike. Whether gliding across the ice or connecting with teammates, he exemplifies what it means to truly love the sport.
We are incredibly lucky to have Tommy Budnick back with the Guelph Storm, where his passion and skill continue to energize the team and inspire the community.
