Jimmy Sutherland commits to Storm
Guelph, ON – Guelph Storm General Manager George Burnett announced today that the club’s 2023 thirteenth-round selection Jimmy Sutherland has signed an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the hockey club.
The forward from Komoka, Ontario was selected by the Storm 254th overall in last year’s OHL Priority Selection.
“Jimmy has made significant improvement throughout the second half of last year playing with an excellent Strathroy program,” said George Burnett. “Jimmy’s determination has been evident since his first Orientation Camp and has earned him an opportunity with our club. We welcome Jimmy and his family to our organization.”
In his OHL draft year, the 2007-born left-shot forward recorded 40 goals and 31 assists for 71 points in 83 games for the Bishop Kearney Selects U15 AAA program. This past season, Sutherland notched 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points in 50 games for the GOJHL’s Strathroy Rockets. Sutherland added seven points in nine playoff games for the Rockets with three goals and four assists.
