Gillespie Debuts New Mask
The start of a new season means players take the ice in fresh gear, with that Storm netminder Brayden Gillespie has debuted a new mask for the 2024/2025 season.
In the Spring, Brayden enlisted the help of fans to design his mask for the coming season. Nearly 100 design submissions were received over the month-long contest, with Brayden eagerly viewing all designs. At the conclusion of the contest, Brayden notified the winner, Adam T, with a phone call to share the news. Adam won four tickets to a pre-season game along with the opportunity to meet Brayden and view the design ahead of the mask debut.
The pair collaborated on the final details to further personalize it. The backplate of Brayden’s mask features many personal elements including the dates of his OHL milestones, his past teams, a tribute to the late Eli Palfreyman, and a nod to his father who was also a goaltender.
Over 30 students from St. John’s Catholic School in Guelph took part in the design process. Humbled by the support, Brayden wanted to show his appreciation by visiting the students and engaging in a morning of floor hockey and autographs before the school year came to an end.
