STING TIE FRANCHISE RECORD FOR WINS IN A SEASON
The Sarnia Sting have tied the franchise mark for wins in a season with a 5-4 overtime victory over the Owen Sound Attack last night for it’s 39th on the season tying the mark set by the 1995-96 Sarnia Sting.
The record is a club and a franchise record. The Sarnia Sting-Newmarket/Cornwall Royals franchise has been in the Ontario Hockey League since the 1981-82 season.
The Sting look for it’s first ever 40 win season and sole ownership of the new franchise record tonight in London vs. the Knights and will have another crack at the 40 win mark as they close out the season at the SSEC Sunday afternoon vs. the SSM Greyhounds.
