Sting Sign 11-Year Old Cash McKinnon | Scotiabank Signing

Sarnia, Ontario: Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca announced today that the Hockey Club is extremely proud to sign Petrolia, ON native Cash McKinnon to an Ontario Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.
In partnership with Scotiabank, the Sarnia Sting were looking for a youth in our community who share in the core values of our organizations by continuing to demonstrate the dedication, hard work, kindness, and passion required to be a member of Sting Nation.
The nominations flooded in with many deserving individuals, worthy to be signed by the Sting. This season, the winner exemplifies the type of person deserving to don the Sting crest.
Cash McKinnon, 11 of Petrolia, is a hard-working Grade 6 student at Lambton Centennial School. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Cash never lets his disability get in his way and lives life with a positive can-do attitude. A lover of sport, Cash is active in sledge hockey, cross country, baseball and track and field. He also is very active in his school assisting in coaching the Lambton Centennial Basketball & Volleyball teams.
Nominated by Steve McGrail, a teacher at the Petrolia school who raves of Cash’s qualities that make him deserving of the experience. ‘He epitomizes the perseverance, dedication, hard work, and the refusal-to-quit-when-things-get-hard attitude that make hockey players and teams successful.’
Sting General Manager Dylan Seca comments of today’s signing:

We talk about Pride, excellence, and fun as core values of the organization, and we are proud of the dedication, resilience and perseverance Cash shows in his sport each and every day. We set these expectations for our players, and he exemplifies this with a smile on his face. We couldn’t be happier to have him on board today.”
As part of being welcomed to the team Cash receives the ultimate Sting experience including his own stall in the Sting dressing room, a customized jersey, meet and greet with the Sting, morning skate activity and lunch with Sting captain Nolan Dillingham. Cash will then announce the starting lineup at the pre-game speech before the Sting take on the Saginaw Spirit.
When asked what it means to be signed by the Sting, McKinnon said
“It means a lot, as Dylan said you have to have fun with everything you do and I think this organization shows a lot of fun with what they do on ice and what they show to everyone. To be even a part of this, which I didn’t think was going to happen, is amazing.”
