Sting Play Three Games This Week As Regular Season Winds Down
The Sting fresh off a 5-3 victory over the Ottawa 67’s Sunday at the SSEC look to another tough week ahead with three games against three of the hottest teams in the Ontario Hockey League.
The Sting, 37-17-6-1 81 points, look to tie then set a couple of team and franchise records in both wins (38) and points (82).
The first test for the Sting will come Wednesday when they travel to Owen Sound for a potential first round play off match up vs. the Attack. Owen Sound has been one of the hottest teams in the league since the trading deadline and have also been helped by the addition of ex-Sting Juris Stals who has been frequenting the score sheet. The Attack are 7-2-1 in it’s last 10 games.
On Friday night the Plymouth Whalers make their 3rd and final trip to the SSEC. The West Division leading Whalers led by sniper Chad LaRose have won three straight vs. the Sting to lead the season series 3-2. The Whalers have won 7 of it’s last 10.
The Sting close out the week Saturday when the OHL’s top ranked Kitchener Rangers come to town featuring it’s fearsome Canadian World Jr. threesome in Derek Roy, Gregory Campbell and Steve Eminger. The Rangers who lead the Western Conference are 7-2-1 in its last 10 games.
