STING AND FRONTENACS PLAY TO A 2-2 TIE

For the second night in a row, the Sarnia Sting came away without a win at home after going unbeaten in the previous ten at home, this time playing the Kingston Frontenacs to a
2-2 tie in front of 4,075 fans at the SSEC Saturday night.
The Sting dominated the first 40 minutes of the game, scoring goals in the first and second period to take a 2-0 lead into the third. The Sting opened the scoring at 4:10 of the first on a power play goal by Danny Fritsche, his 22nd goal of the year. The Sting would go ahead 2-0 in the second period at 6:18 by John Hecimovic on a nice feed from Drew Larmen.


In the third period, the Frontenacs capitalized on Sting turnovers and scored 2 goals just .43 seconds apart to tie the game. The first coming at 5:57 of the third period on Brandon McBride’s 15th goal of the season. Then just :43 seconds later, Miguel Delisle tied it a 2 at 6:40. The Frontenacs almost went ahead just seconds later, when Cory Stillman rang a shot off the post.
The game would go into overtime, with Joey Tenute getting the best opportunity for the Sting to win it when he had a breakaway and was stopped by goalie Peter Namerlik.
Robert Gherson started for the Sting playing the entire game and facing 44 shots. Namerlik faced 42 shots.
The game took exactly 2 hours and 30 minutes to play.
The Sting travel to Windsor Sunday to take on the Windsor Spitfires at 6:00pm. The game can be heard live on CHOK 1070 AM with George Heath and Murray Vosbourgh.
