FIRST “STATE OF FRANCHISE ADDRESS” A HUGE SUCCESS FOR STING AND FANS
As a benefit of being a Season Ticket Holder, the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club hosted its first ever “State of the Franchise Address” for their season ticket subscribers on Sunday (Jan. 26th) at the SSEC. The event was attended by about 900 of their current 3,300 season ticket holders who received a complimentary full breakfast served by Sting players. The State of the Franchise Address was an informative profile of the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club from a business as well as hockey perspective. The format gave those who attended a forum to discuss the past, present and future of both the off and on-ice product of the Club as well as the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Center. President and Governor of the Sting and President of Sarnia Sports and Entertainment, Rob Ciccarelli, addressed the audience on the business side of the team as well as the SSEC. General Manager Terry Doran addressed the crowd from the hockey side. Following breakfast and both speeches, fans had the opportunity to ask questions or make comments related to both the business and hockey side of the club. Fans discussed various topics from the OHL draft, to the off-ice entertainment, scheduling, merchandise, music, officiating, as well as general comments of pride and enjoyment of the season and on being a Sting fan. “The State of the Franchise Address truly gave the PSL/Season Ticket Holders the feeling that not only are they appreciated but that they are a small part of the entire package and that the motto “Your Town – Your Team” is indeed a reality,” said long time season ticket holder Bruce Fisher.
“I want to express my thanks and appreciation…for another excellent PSL/Season Ticket Holder event yesterday. The breakfast was great! Those responsible are to be commended for the fine preparation and serving of that many people in a short period of time. Rob and Terry’s addresses were excellent! Both were very informative and gave insights and perspectives most fans did not have before.
Throughout the event, Sting players served a buffet breakfast to fans as well as walking on the floor to serve juice and coffee. It gave fans an opportunity to mingle with the players they watch and support. “The opportunity to meet, talk to and get to know the players a little “up close and personal” was very much appreciated,” added Fisher.
“I had a wonderful time yesterday. I enjoyed the format, and the questions and answers. It was a great day,” said Phil Brain capturing the sentiment of the people who attended.
“We all felt very good after the day was over,” said Sting Director of Business Operations Joe Bronzi. It was a benefit and a value that we were very proud to offer to our season ticket holders. It also gave us an opportunity to listen to our fans in an organized “town meeting” format, added Bronzi.
