Sting Name Leadership Group For 2023-2024 Season
General Manager, Dylan Seca and the Sarnia Sting coaching staff announced today that overage centre, Cooper Way has been named team captain.
Marko Sikic and Easton Wainwright will take on a leadership role with the club as well as alternate captains.
On the announcement Seca adds,
“All three men represent our organization core values and have elite character and work ethic. This season is more about the group as a whole but Cooper, Marko and Easton will be a part of the leadership team that will ensure we stay committed to the task at hand! We’re excited to get to work.”
Way will play his 137th regular season game in the Ontario Hockey League tonight, and sixty-first as a member of the Sarnia Sting. Originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 OHL Priority Selection by the Oshawa Generals, Way was acquired by the Sting in an exchange last October.
On being named captain Way shares,
“It is a true honour and privilege to be named the captain of the team for this season. Looking forward to leading this team in front of the best fans in the league all season long.”
The Sting face off against the Windsor Spitfires tonight as the 30th season for the club begins with a 7:05pm puck drop at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
