Sarnia Sting Complete 2026 OHL Priority Selection

After completing round one last evening, the Sarnia Sting executed rounds two through 15 this afternoon. General manager Dylan Seca and his scouting staff have added 13 valuable assets to their team through the second day of the 2026 OHL Priority Selection.

The Sting started the day in the second round, selecting centerman Evan Bannister 30th overall. The Georgetown native is coming off a strong season with the Credit River Capitals U16 AAA program, putting up 38 goals and 26 assists over 33 games. The six-foot, 176-lb player describes himself as a “fast and physical player” who creates chances and plays for his teammates.

“Evan is a player we couldn’t believe was at that spot. His character, competitiveness, skill and leadership are impressive. Just an overall awesome player. Looks like the type who should be a fan favourite, someone who plays in key situations. I see him scoring an overtime goal and winning a big game for us. He has that knack to help his team win.” -Dylan Seca

The next Sting selection came in the third round, picking Brody Brown 43rd overall. Brown is yet another player from the Vaughan Kings making the move up to the Sting. Brown joins Sarnia’s fourth overall pick, Adrian Sgro, and current captain Alesandro Di Iorio as former Kings players. Brown and Sgro even lived together during their time as teammates. Seca anticipates a successful pairing between the two for the Sting, given their history and connection, on
and off the ice.

Notably, in round six, Seca and the team selected an American goaltender, Chase Pastor, of Burlington, NJ.

“Pastor is a really interesting prospect. We had him in our top three list of goalies overall, regardless of where he’s from. He’s a really gritty goalie, good size and has the jam in a goalie you love to watch. We believe he has the capabilities to be a starting goalie. It will be dependent on when he’s ready and how soon he will be here.” -Dylan Seca

Pastor was the only netminder acquired by the Sting this weekend. The Sting drafted five American players by the end of the day. Seca also commented on the addition of American players, “We were comfortable making swings on prospects that might not show up right away, but over the course of the two years, they will get there. And now we can protect their rights, should they want to come our way.”

Wyatt Finch was selected 100th overall in the fifth round. The crafty defenceman is one of the most improved prospects to Sting scouting. Seca said, “His work ethic is unbelievable. I think what we’ve seen in him, and what we will see in the next two years, is something we can’t pass up on.”

In the 8th round, the Sting selected Caiven Walos 160th overall, the younger brother of current Sting breakout player, Easton Walos. “We saw Caiven throughout the course of the year. He’s a crafty, special player. He’ll get a chance, and he will earn it when he’s ready.”
