Sarnia at Barrie Game Preview – October 30
The Sarnia Sting continue their early-season road trip tonight with a visit to Sadlon Arena to face off against the Barrie Colts. It marks the second stop on Sarnia’s three-game swing through Central Ontario, following Wednesday morning’s contest in Owen Sound.
The Sting are looking to respond after a tough 7–3 loss to the Attack in their School Day Game at the Bayshore Community Centre. Despite trailing 7–0 through two periods, Sarnia showed no quit, storming back with three goals in the final frame — a push that reflected the group’s resilience and compete level.
Beckham Edwards sparked the third-period surge with his sixth goal of the season, converting on the power play from Captain Lukas Fischer (St. Louis Blues) and Ryan Brown. Brown added a goal of his own just two minutes later — his third of the campaign — with Liam Beamish picking up the assist. Ben Pickell capped off the rally with another power-play marker late in the period, assisted by Mitch Young.
Between the pipes, Patrick Quinlan started for Sarnia, turning aside 17 of 22 shots before being relieved by Charlie Larocque, who made his Sting debut after being acquired from the North Bay Battalion earlier this month. Larocque looked steady in relief, stopping 19 of 21 shots in just over 36 minutes of play.
The game also marked a milestone moment for forward Carson Hall, who suited up for his 100th career OHL game — all with the Sting. The 19-year-old winger continues to be a dependable presence and leader in Sarnia’s lineup.
While the scoreboard in Owen Sound wasn’t flattering, the Sting’s effort in the third period and special teams success were bright spots. Sarnia went 2-for-6 on the man advantage and will look to carry that momentum into tonight’s meeting with Barrie, a team known for its offensive creativity and strong play at home.
The Colts enter tonight’s contest coming off a strong performance of their own and sit in the thick of a competitive Eastern Conference. The Sting will look to limit Barrie’s transition game while leaning on their depth and physicality to dictate the pace.
Fans can expect another fast, hard-fought matchup as the Sting aim to rebound and close out the month of October on a high note.
Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM at Sadlon Arena. Fans can catch the action live on FloHockey or tune in on YourTV Sarnia for full game coverage.
