Saginaw at Sarnia Game Preview – January 30
Tonight, the Sarnia Sting will take on the Saginaw Spirit for their first of four games in the stretch of a week. Puck drop is set for 7:05 PM at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
The Sting will return to play in the Hive tonight, after a hard 4-1 loss to the Kitchener Rangers on Tuesday night. Captain Allesandro Di Iorio, who scored the only goal on Tuesday, says that tonight’s game is crucial to win, “It’s a big division game, one of our most important of the year. If we come out strong and play a full 60, we should be good”.
In light of recent injuries, Chase Sewell has been called up from the Strathroy Rockets and will lace up for tonight’s tilt. Mitch Young, Ben Pickell and Logan Hawery are out with injury, day-to-day, and will not play tonight. Jordan Bax is serving the second of his two-game suspension after a cross-check in last Saturday’s game against the Peterborough Petes. This will be Sewell’s third game with the Sting. The 6’5 defenceman has five assists with the Rockets so far on the season, and is a force on the blueline.
The Sting are looking to snap their five-game loss streak tonight against Saginaw. The team has a busy week ahead with four upcoming games, three being back-to-back. Sarnia will take on the Flint Firebirds tomorrow night, the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday and the Firebirds again on Wednesday night.
Puck drop for the first of three straight is tonight at 7:05 PM at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
