Pre Season Game Report: Knights 6 | Sting 3
Sarnia, ON- The Sarnia Sting opened their home pre season schedule, falling to the London knights 6-3 on Saturday evening.
Taking a page from last nights’ strong second and third period result, the Sting opened with a solid first period, scoring the first two goals of the game.
Free agent invite Calvin Martin opened the scoring on a fine passing play with Adam Ruzicka and Jamieson Rees recording assists. Another outstanding individual effort by Ruzicka lent itself to the Stings second goal of night, late in the opening period.
The Knights took control in the second period offensively, recording six goals. Single goal scorers for the Knights in the middle period were recorded by Antonio Stranges, Luke Evangelista, Connor McMichael, Ryan Bangs, Matvey Guskov and Samil Panwar.
The Sting added a third goal in the second period as Ryan McGregor scored his second in as many nights on a deflection from a Jacob Perreault shot. Sarnia made a goal tending change in the third period as Ethan Langevin replaced starter Aidan Hughes.
The Sting will wrap up pre-season action with a home-and-home match up against the Windsor Spitfires on Thursday, September 13th in Windsor, before returning to the Hive on Friday, September 14th against the same Spitfires.
