This afternoon, the Sarnia Sting will take on the Ottawa 67’s for the final time this season. Puck drop is set for 2:05 PM at Progressive Auto Arena.
On Friday night, the Sting broke the Barrie Colts’, the Central division leaders’, 10-game regulation win streak by forcing overtime. Despite a final 2-1 score in Barrie’s favour, the Sting captured a point and put up a solid deference against the Colts. When asked on takeaways from the game, Young said, “it was a huge game, I think we battled hard against a team that’s really hot right now”.
Two players who missed significant time due to injuries returned to the lineup on Friday’s game, Mitch Young and Beckham Edwards. Young has had his fair share of injuries in his overage season, but teammate’s have praised his positive mentality and outlook despite the setbacks.
In a post-morning skate interview Young was asked on how he feels to be back on the ice, he said, “Its nice to be back with the boys and start contributing again. Watching isn’t as fun. You want to play for the fans”. The defenceman made his return known, assisting the goal that forced overtime, scored by Ben Pickell.
The tying goal was scored shorthanded in the dying minutes of the game, and the team was throwing everything they could on net. Young said, “Usually I wouldn’t jump into a play like that, but Dio made a great play, and I just found Pick’s backdoor”.
The Sting are looking to carry to momentum into this afternoon’s game against Ottawa to take two points.
