North Bay at Sarnia Game Preview – November 9
For the first time this season, the Sarnia Sting will face off against the North Bay Battalion this afternoon at 2:05 PM at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Alessandrio Di Iorio, who’s been out with injury all season after a hard hit in the pre-season, will play his first game back with the Sting tonight. Di Iorio is a key piece of the puzzle in Sarnia and is expected to make a positive impact on the season. Fans, teammates and coaches are fired up to have him back in the lineup.
The Sting are coming off a close 5-4 loss in the shootout against the Brampton Steelheads on Friday that kept fans on the edge of their seat all night.
In Friday’s game, Chase Gaughan scored his first career OHL goal, as well as an assist and was the first star. Gaughan scored late in the second period to take back the Sarnia lead. The right-winger went on to assist the game-tying goal scored by Lukas Fischer, which forced overtime and then the shootout. Gaughan hopes to continue to maintain the drive, saying ‘Scoring two points felt great, helping the team in any way I can”.
Guaghan is one of the younger players on the team and is in his second season with the Sting. In a post-morning skate interview, he said, “The older guys always tell us to keep pushing through and that hard work pays off. Even when times are tough, they preach it to us”.
In terms of today’s game, Gaughans says the team needs to “keep using that momentum to give us a big two-point Sunday”, as the team builds off the positives from Friday.
This afternoon is the last home game before the Sting are set to play their next five on the road.
