Games Notes – Game Preview September 24, 2026 VS Peterborough Petes
The Sarnia Sting will kick off their Eastern road trip with a matchup against the Peterborough Petes tonight at 7:05 pm at Peterborough Memorial Centre.
Tonight’s faceoff marks the second game of the season, after a 4-3 comeback win over the Soo Greyhounds on Sunday. Despite trailing 3-1 for most of the second period, the Sting cut the deficit late when Cole Emerton converted on the power play with under a minute remaining, bringing Sarnia within one heading into the third.
Jack Van Volsen opened the third hot, scoring the game-tying goal just 40 seconds into the period. Emerton and Easton Walos assisted the power-play goal. Russian import Ivan Tkach Tkachenko remained a force between the posts, stopping each shot of the period. As the period was winding down, Van Volsen scored yet another power-play goal to claim the lead. This goal, assisted by Emerton and Logan Hawery, would prove to be the game winner.
The Sting made the trip to the Borough not too long ago for a preseason matchup, ultimately losing 4-5. Tonight’s game gives Sarnia an opportunity to earn their first win in the building and turn the page on its preseason result.
All three players who attended NHL training camps have returned, Alessandrio Di Iorio, Ivan Tkach Tkachenko and Simon Katoicky, and are available to play in tonight’s game.
Be sure to catch the first of three games on the road tonight on Flo Hockey and YourTV Sarnia Channel 700, and keep up with Sting socials for updates.
